St Mungo's

The London office has been supporting St Mungo’s, homelessness charity, for the past two years. This year, Liberty has chosen to fund and support St Mungo's No Second Night Out North hub, which provides an essential and rapid response for people who are sleeping rough for the first time.

All of the employees and volunteers that I met on my visit to the NSNO Hub were so passionate about their work that they were naturally inspiring. I came away knowing that more needed to be done and wanting to do more. I thought it was incredible and inspirational that St Mungo's had set themselves the objective of preventing people being homeless for more than one night.” Henry Whitbread, CSR Champion

Results of last year's project – Client Involvement Apprentice role:

Last year, LSM funded a 12 month Client Involvement Apprentice role. This role was specifically for someone with personal experience of homelessness and the role aimed to increase client involvement across the organisation. The apprentice achieved her aims and increased members of network groups, such as the Diversity and Inclusion Women Group.

Working for St Mungo’s has been a massive accomplishment for me. I have lived experience of homelessness from a young age, no matter how hard you try, it can become a massive barrier to progress in your life. I’ve always wanted to work in the Social Sector, and tried to complete an access course in to university, however due to my housing circumstances I was not able to complete this. This apprenticeship has given me the opportunity to gain a new qualification, join the sector I’ve dreamed to be a part of, and given me the resources to rent myself a property in the private sector. Since joining St Mungo’s my life has changed immeasurable, from where I live, to my personal wellbeing and ongoing success and achievements. I am very happy and very grateful.”
